DeepCitySoul are the mesmerising Birmingham based duo who have fast come under the spotlight owing both to their fascinating production style and suitably eclectic DJ sets that without doubt captivate the crowds.

DeepCitySoul are Matt McKillop and Owen Taylor. They devised DeepCitySoul out of their necessity and love for quality house music and currently hold a residency at Godskitchen and play across the UK and the world.

DJing as the collective DeepCitySoul they have featured alongside Louie Vega, DJ Spen, Joey Negro, Norman Jay, Sasha & Digweed, Carl Cox among others for established events such as Global Gathering, Godskitchen (where they hold a monthly residency), The Factory, Café Mambo, The Rainbow, Pacha (Ibiza), Chuff Chuff, Miss Moneypennys, Ministry Of Sound, El Devino and The Garden Party (Croatia).

They have a weekly fortnightly radio show on SS Radio which is syndicated to an additional 15 stations worldwide and also run their own events under the same name as this show – ‘House is Home’.

Influenced primarily by MAW, Llorca, Levan, Dennis Ferrer, Kerri Chandler and Blaze, the DeepCitySoul productions deliver a distinctive sound, blending aspects of soul and jazz with exceptional house and funk rhythms, championed by the likes of Tony Humphries, Miguel Migs and Dimitri from Paris among others.

A relatively fresh brand in the house music scene, the DeepCitySoul discography already includes releases and remixes on Universe Media, Universe City, GKF, Soul Heaven, ReelGroove, Distar, Soul-Fi, SoulFree, LoveHouse Records, Bombay, ToolRoom, Pacha Multimedia, Miss Moneypennys Music, Muzik-K, Further Recordings and Citrus.

More recently the boys have launched their own record labels, DeeCeeEss Recordings and sister label DCS Trax for their more underground output, perfectly complemented by their publishing company Universe Sounds.

Currently, under their own DeeCeeEss label (launched 2009), they can be seen working with the likes of Andy Ward, The Layabouts, Timmy Vegas, Graeme Park, Guy Robin, Sir Piers, The Fanatix, Stacy Kidd, Brazilian Soul Crew, Park Street, Deep Josh to name only a few.

Delivering a steady stream of fresh productions and remixes in conjunction with their regular international DJ appearances, DeepCitySoul are fast becoming a household name with fans ranging from ardent clubbers and the dj fraternity alike…. Their first release on their own record label DeeCeeEss recordings of their track Earthly Angel received a 5 out of 5 review in both DJ Mag and DMC Update. Response to the track was phenomenal, “Earthly Angel is a refreshing vocal cut with a positive message – nice to hear !!!” said Nathan G of Lovebug and Kiss FM, CJ Mackintosh described it as a “nice package” and Raymundo Rodrigez expressing ” like the sound you would hear at Body & Soul in NYC..quality! ”

Recently the boys have been riding high at number 2 in the Traxsource chart with their second major release

with the uber cool track ‘Groove School’ complete with Grant Nelson remix. Andy Daniels of Hed Kandi said, “Absolutely love it, class!” IDJ Magazine wrote “High class soulful house that ticks all the relevant boxes for lyrical content, arrangement and dancefloor energy.”

The demand for the pair to remix other peoples tracks is increasing day on day. Their DeepCitySoul discography includes remixes for Kenny Thomas, D:REAM, Peyton, Damian Marley, LT Brown, Pauline Henry, Sybil, Abigail Bailey, Angie Brown, Keith Thompson, Jon Junior , Sofia Rubina and Rainy Payne. Their distinctive sound eminates vibrantly throughout every release, consistently hitting high in every house music chart and dance radio playlist.

These guys are major players, be it from the dj booth of underground clubs through to the stage of the best international festivals the DeepCitySoul duo continue to gather a loyal fanbase and gain new supporters whenever and wherever they play,
